Relegation-threatened Gangwon FC and Suwon Samsung will face off in a ‘doomsday match’ to avoid the bottom of the table. Gangwon will host Suwon in the 24th round of the Hana Won Q K League 2023 at Gangneung Sports Complex on March 22. Gangwon is in 11th place with 16 points, while Suwon is in 12th place with 15 points.

Gangwon has been picking up points in its last three matches, drawing all three, but is yet to get its first win.

Suwon, on the other hand, picked up another three points in the last round with a 3-1 win over leaders Ulsan, and have since closed the gap to Gangwon to one point. Both Gangwon and Suwon are in desperate need of a win, as this matchup could change the standings for both teams.

Gangwon made five signings in the summer transfer window, the most of any K League 1 club.

Four of them are foreigners: the Brazilian attacking trio of Yago, Gabriel, and Wellington, and Montenegrin defender Kang Tuzi. Kang has already started three games in a row and has settled into the Gangwon defense.

Suwon has been boosted by the performances of summer signings Kim Joo-won and Kazuki. In particular, Mulic, who has struggled with nagging injuries since joining Suwon this season, has come alive with goals in the last three games. 토토
