The U.S. House of Representatives bill would protect Indian gaming rights of the two Texas tribes, which have long been rejected by the state attorney general.

The Bill is HR 759. The title is “Isleta del Sur Pueblo and Alabama-Kushata Tribe Equal and Fair Opportunity Act 2019”. See congress.gov

Texas is home to three federally recognized Native American tribes. All three have been approved by the U.S. Department of the Interior to host Indian games on their land under the Indian Games Regulation Act.

However, Texas attorney general spent years and millions of dollars to prevent games by two tribes, allowing games for a third tribe. Texas AG shut down Indian casinos:

Speaking Rock Casino, run by Isleta del Sur Pueblo 슬롯머신

Naskila Gaming, run by the Alabama-Kushata Tribe in Texas

Only Kikapu Lucky Eagle Casino continues to operate without state interference. The casino is owned by the traditional Texas kikapu tribe in Eagle Pass.

Bill HR 759 was introduced by U.S. Representative Brian Babin and sponsored by 24 Republicans and Democrats.
