After a terrible early hit against their captain, the Vegas Golden Knights maintained their composure and got the finest retaliation. They now lead the Western Conference Final series 3-0 and need one more victory to advance to a subsequent Stanley Cup Final.
After captain Jamie Benn was already dismissed from the game, Jonathan Marchessault opened the scoring for Vegas with the first of three rapid goals. Barbashev’s goal was one of just three shots the Knights took during the five-minute penalty, though he would later add two assists. After Ty Dellandrea’s shorthanded break was stopped, Nicolas Roy grabbed the rebound the opposite way and then passed to Barbashev for a 2-0 advantage.
With 12:50 remaining in the first period, William Carrier’s backhand goal made it 3-0, forcing Oettinger to be replaced by Scott Wedgewood. Oettinger, 24, has now dropped three straight starts. He has dropped four of his last five games, with his lone victory coming in the Stars’ 2-1 victory over Seattle in Game 7 of the Western Semifinal when he made 22 saves.
With 21 seconds remaining in the second period, Stars center Max Domi was assessed a game misconduct. Domi began punching after his cross-check against Nicolas Hague.

Officials sent both teams to their locker rooms early for the second halftime break with the Knights leading 4-0 because it took a while to clean the playing surface.
