English Premier League (EPL) Manchester City’s (Man City) “monster striker” Elling Holland has been forced off the field with an injury. He was leading the team in scoring, but then he went down with an injury. Despite his team’s 6-1 victory, he failed to add to his tally. That left the door open for Son Heung-min (31-Tottenham Hotspur), the second-leading scorer.

Holland started at home against Bournemouth in the 11th round of the 2023-2024 EPL on Sept. 5. He played up front in a 3-4-3 formation. He was unable to find the back of the net personally as his team took a commanding 3-0 lead in the first half. He limped off with an ankle problem just before halftime and was eventually replaced by Phil Foden at the start of the second half.

Having recently played through a minor injury, he was forced off again. After the game, City manager Pep Guardiola himself confirmed that Holland had been substituted with an ankle injury. The results of the scans are still pending, but he suggested that he could miss a few games.

Holland was the EPL’s top scorer last season and has continued to lead the league in goals this season. His 11 goals through 10 rounds put him atop the mid-table. He’s been quiet in Round 11 and has a three-goal lead over the next closest player. He injured his ankle on a chance to extend his lead. Son Heung-min and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah have yet to play in Round 11, leaving him with some catching up to do.

First up, Salah is back in action. He’ll be back in action on Saturday when we host Luton Town in round 11. Next up is Son Heung-min. Son will try to score in three consecutive games when he hosts Chelsea in Round 11 on Sunday. Both Salah and Son have been in fine form of late, so expectations are high for goals. With Holland sidelined by injury, the joint top scorers of the 2021-2022 season are ready to catch up.

Meanwhile, Son faces an opponent in Mauricio “The Gift” Pochettino at home to Chelsea on July 7. Pochettino, who brought him to Tottenham in 2015 and turned him into a world star, will be 먹튀검증 aiming for the Chelsea goal. Since joining Spurs, he has scored just two goals in 14 EPL games against Chelsea. It will be interesting to see if he can find the back of the net for Spurs, who lead the EPL with the only unbeaten run (8 wins, 2 draws) this season.
