Gwangju FC striker Heo Yul has been named the Young Player of the Month for September.The Korea Professional Football Association (KPA) announced on Wednesday that Heo Yul has been awarded the Lemona Young Player of the Month for September.The Young Player of the Month award, which recognizes the young player who has made the biggest impact in the K League 1 each month, has been presented since 2021.Players aged 23 or younger (born in 2000 or later) who are Korean nationals and are three years or younger (debuted in the 2021 season or later) from the year they made their first official K League appearance are eligible for the award. Players who played more than half of their team’s total playing time in the month are nominated, and the winner is determined by discussion and vote of the members of the Technical Study Group (TSG) under the Federation’s Technical Committee.

Heo, who recorded one goal and one assist in three matches during the K League 1 Rounds 29-32 in September, beat out five other nominees, including Um Ji Sung (Gwangju), Ryu Kwang-hyun (Gangwon), and Lee Tae-seok (Seoul), in the TSG vote.He will receive a trophy and a cash prize of 1 million won. The award 스포츠토토 ceremony will be held at the Gwangju Football Stadium on Nov. 21, when Gwangju hosts Ulsan Hyundai.
