The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) announced on the 29th that this year’s “KBO Visiting T-ball Class,” sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, was last completed with education at Donam Elementary School in Seoul.
The education began in 2016 to improve the physical strength of students and expand the base of baseball through T-ball education that retirees can enjoy safely and easily by visiting school.
T-ball is played in a similar rule to baseball, and the batter puts the ball on the tee instead of hitting the ball thrown by the pitcher and proceeds with the attack.
This year’s education began in June at Gilt-bronze Elementary School in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, and a total of 200 elementary schools nationwide participated, up 66 schools from last year.
KBO dispatched instructors to all participating schools and provided T-ball supplies and gloves worth 1.5 million won.
Song Eul-sun, a teacher at Usuyeong Elementary School in Haenam-gu, Jeollanam-do, said, “Our school is in the outskirts of Haenam-gun, so we did not receive much of these benefits, but we were selected for the KBO support project and spent a really meaningful time with the children. “If I have time, I want to watch a baseball game with my students,” he said.
Kim Woo-joong, a sixth-grade student at Woosu-young Elementary School, said, “Today, I wore gloves and played T-ball for the first time. It was fun because a famous instructor taught me how to throw the ball kindly and how to hit it. “I want to play catch and play a lot with my friends in the future,” he said.
This year, 10 KBO talent donation members, including Jang Jong-hoon, Song Jin-woo, Jang Won-jin and Kim Yong-dal, participated in the “Visiting T-ball Class.”
Jang Won-jin, a member of the committee, said, “It was very rewarding to see them enjoying practice and playing in class.”
KBO said, “We will continue the project next year to expand the base of baseball and secure future baseball fans.” 토토
