KT WIZ won their third straight game with a thrilling extra-inning victory. The LG Twins dropped their fifth straight game.
KT Wiz won 4-3 in a thrilling 12-inning extra innings at home against LG in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Katie Wiz Park in Suwon on Saturday.
With the win, KT extended its winning streak to three games and remained in fifth place with 41 wins, 2 draws, and 42 losses. They are within striking distance of returning to five wins.
On the other hand, LG, which has lost five straight games, has 49 wins, 2 draws, and 32 losses. They are still in the lead, but their losing streak is getting longer.
KT’s Moon Sang-cheol hit the winning run in the 12th inning of extra innings. Hwang Jae-gyun had three hits and three RBIs, and Choi Jae-dae added two hits and two RBIs. On the mound, starter Ko Young-pyo got the win despite pitching seven innings of one-run ball, but Son Dong-hyun picked up the win with three scoreless innings of relief.
For LG, starter Lim Chan-kyu gave up three runs in 4.1 innings. Go Woo-seok took the loss with 1.2 innings of one-run ball.
KT took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on a leadoff double by 먹튀검증 Hwang Jae-gyun and an RBI single by Park Kyung-soo.
After Moon Sung-joo was hit by a pitch in the top of the fourth, LG scored a run on back-to-back singles by Kim Hyun-soo and Austin to tie the game at 1-1.
However, LG’s smile was short-lived. KT regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth after Hwang Jae-gyun’s double and Park Kyung-soo’s sacrifice bunt put runners on first and third, followed by a timely double by Choi Jae-dae. With two outs and a runner on third, Kim Min-hyuk’s grounder brought home the runner from third to make it 3-1.
KT maintained the 3-1 lead until the seventh inning, when Ko Young-pyo pitched a strong inning. LG’s bullpen prevented any further runs, but the silence of the bats prevented them from getting any closer.
However, LG tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the eighth inning when Park Hae-min singled and Shin Min-jae walked, and then Hong Chang-ki hit a two-run double to tie the game at 3-3. The game went to extra innings.
Even in the extra innings, the two teams couldn’t settle the score easily. However, it was KT who had the last laugh. In the bottom of the 12th inning, KT put runners on first and second with a single by Hwang Jae-gyun, a sacrifice bunt by Park Kyung-soo, and a walk by Choi Jae-dae. Kim Jun-tae then struck out, but a fielder’s choice loaded the bases and Moon Sang-chul’s infield single scored the winning run. The game ended with a win for KT.
