Drunk driving’ Lee Sang-min excludes AG national soccer team
Seongnam defender Lee Sang-min, who was selected for the Hangzhou Asian Games national team despite his drunk driving experience, was eventually expelled from the national team.
The Korea Football Association made the decision, acknowledging the selection of players that do not meet the national team’s operating regulations and saying that it will do its best to prevent a recurrence.
Lee Sang-min was sentenced to a fine of 5 million won in August of the same year after being caught driving under the influence of alcohol in May 2020.
Lee Sang-min has been known to have been selected for various national teams several times since September 2021 despite the operating regulations that disqualify him from the national team for three years if he is fined more than 5 million won for drunk driving.
