The Korea Handball Association (KHA) announced that the women’s national handball team left for Hiroshima, Japan, at 8 a.m. on Friday for the Asian Qualification Tournament for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which will be held in Hiroshima, Japan, from July 17-23.
The team will play India (17th), China (18th) and Kazakhstan (21st) in succession, before playing the final match against hosts Japan (23rd) for a direct ticket to the Olympic Games, which will be awarded to the top team with the most points.
Only 12 countries can qualify for the Olympic Games in women’s handball. The Olympic host nation, the winner of the 2023 World Women’s Handball Championship, the winner of the four continental qualifiers (Europe, America, Africa and Asia) and the top six finishers of the Olympic playoffs will be awarded a total of 12 tickets. The Korean women’s handball team has qualified for the Olympic Games 10 times in a row, from Los Angeles 1984 to Tokyo 2020. South Korea’s 10 consecutive Olympic appearances are the first for both men and women in Olympic handball history.
The team includes Park Sae-young (Samcheok City Hall), who led the team to back-to-back league titles, Jung Jin-hee (Seoul Metropolitan Government), who was instrumental in last year’s national championship, and Park Jo-eun (Gwangju City Corporation), who won the league’s goalkeeper of the year award.
The center backs who will create goals include Lee Im-kyung (Busan Facilities Corporation), Kang Kyung-min, Song Hye-soo (Gwangju City Corporation), Woo Beet-na (Seoul Metropolitan Government), and rookie award winner Kim Min-seo (Samcheok City Hall). The only European, Ryu Eun-hee (Gyori Audi ETO), also adds strength. 안전카지노사이트
