Baseball’s Doosan Bears pulled off a come-from-behind victory over SSG Landers for the second straight day to close to within half a game of third-place Samsung Lions.

Doosan defeated SSG 10-6 on Aug. 10 at SSG Landers Field in Incheon, South Korea, in the 2024 Shinhan SOL KBO League. It was Doosan’s second straight thrilling come-from-behind victory, as the team rallied from a 5-10 deficit the day before to win 11-10. SSG, on the other hand, has lost three straight games and remains in sixth place.

Once again, Doosan struggled with an early loss of a starting pitcher. Choi Seung-yong, who started in relief, gave up a two-run homer to SSG’s Guillermo Heredia in the top of the first inning. However, Doosan tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the second when Yang Seok-hwan singled to left and Heo Kyung-min walked to put runners on first and second, and Lee Yoo-chan followed with an RBI single up the middle.

But in the bottom of the inning, Choi Seung-yong faltered again, giving up a walk to Choo Shin-soo and a double to Park Ji-hwan to right field. Doosan brought in Park Chi-guk early, but he gave up a three-run homer to Choi Jung to make it 5-2.

Doosan didn’t give up and chipped away at the deficit. With two outs in the fifth, Jared Young hit a two-run shot to left off SSG starter Kim Kwang-hyun, and in the sixth, Heo Kyung-min hit a 메이저사이트 solo home run to left off SSG reliever Moon Seung-won to tie the game at 5-5.

In the seventh, back-to-back singles by Jung Soo-bin and Kang Seung-ho put runners on second and third with no outs before Jared Young came through with a sacrifice fly. In the top of the eighth, Doosan put runners on second and third with back-to-back singles by Kim Ki-yeon and Jeon Min-jae and a sacrifice bunt by Lee Yoo-chan, and Jung Soo-bin delivered the game-winning hit to right field.

Jung went 2-for-3 with two doubles, three walks, two RBIs, two runs scored, and three stolen bases to lead the team to victory. SSG’s Choi Jung-jeong hit his 27th and 28th home runs of the season and finished 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, and four RBIs, but the Bears were unable to take the loss.

With the win, the Doosan Bears closed the gap on the third-place Samsung Lions by half a game and took a step closer to the top spot.
